It contains an enormous amount of information about
the NEAC, from featured artists to artist events and
from artist publications to drawing school courses.
There is also a diary of artist exhibitions.

Whilst on my travels with my
sketchbook I realised that this is
my last year as President. How
time flies.
The Club has grown and
flourished in many directions. Your
new-look newsletter, inspiringly
edited by Susan and Marc. We
hope to continue the coffee table
catalogue, if we find more
backers. The exhibitions have
taken on a new look in the smart
refurbished Mall Galleries...

The New English by Kenneth McConkey is to be launched on Friday 22nd September at the Fine Rooms, Burlington House. Reviews already abound, the Royal Academy, taking the lead in this Autumn's edition of their magazine with Ken Howard's appraisal... |

THIS IS THE TENTH New English Art Club Friends’ Newsletter, and the last to be produced by the present editors. After five years it is time for a change. There have been some gradual developments since we took it on. The first two numbers, in 2001, were comfortably spacious – there was even room for a drawing on the front page. Since then the available space has steadily filled up, so that recently it has been quite a challenge to fit everything in... |

Congratulations to former NEAC Drawing School scholarship winners Julie Jackson and Alex Fowler on their election to the New English Art Club in December 2004! Julie was the first NEAC School of Drawing scholar winner in 1996; Alex won the scholarship in 2001. Both have continued their association with the School of Drawing, attending courses whenever possible and challenging tutors with searching questions... |

THE NEAC ONLINE SHOP A murmur turned into a suggestion at a committee meeting at the Arts Club in Dover Street. It was agreed that a few of us should investigate. With our designers e-Limelight we looked into the details and by the next meeting a proposal had been cobbled together - A zappy presentation - A long discussion. The committee liked the idea. The committee was excited about the idea... |

Following the successful launch of the Friends of the New English Art Club under the presidency of Ken Howard, it is my intention to expand the Club's activities, encouraging involvement between the artists and Friends, and welcoming ideas from both. The Friends are essential to the wellbeing of the New English, giving the extra income that enables us to augment and develop our ideas.... |

IT WAS A NAIL-BITING PERIOD in October
1998. The Club needed a new President and Ken Howard was
asked if he would stand for election. We were awaiting
his answer; it came, and it was "No". Such disappointment.
Two days later there were indications of a change of heart,
and after more talking the answer was "Yes",
he would stand - Yippee! .... |
